Who would have thought a trip to the farm could be so entertaining and informative? Mr. Pish explains about the many different types of farms there are. He even included greenhouses growing different types of flowers and vegetables. His engaging dialogue will keep kids interested as Pish shows different animals and farming implements from various eras. Mr. Pish’s enthusiasm springs off the page and into children’s imagination.

This is a fun read to share with your little ones and older children. Mr. Pish Goes to the Farm would be an excellent addition to any home or school library.

Appraisal:

Mr. Pish has an infectious personality that readily draws the reader in and includes you in the dialogue as he explores. He also has rules to follow while exploring; take plenty of water and snacks, stay on the path, and always stay in sight of an adult. The adult is basically the pack mule to carry everything for you on your adventure. Never go on an exploring adventure alone. Also, pay attention to your surroundings. If you don’t think you see anything stop, look, and listen for a while. Check out the flora, fauna, and trees.

This book is loaded with gorgeous pictures of wildlife, critters, and Mr. Pish. I found this book a treasure trove of information written simply enough for children to understand and engage with. I think any of Mr. Pish’s series books would make a wonderful addition to any library, be it a primary school, public, or a child’s own personal library.

Postcards from Mr. Pish is a wonderful educational series written to engage kids of all ages. I love the way Mr. Pish engages the reader by asking questions to inspire dialogue.

The format of the postcard on each page is clever. Most pictures surrounding each card include Mr. Pish in the environment he is visiting. In this volume Mr. Pish is traveling from Washington State across four provinces in Canada to Maryland. Mr. Pish gives readers a unique perspective documenting his travels that are engaging and entertaining. I highly recommend any book in this series.

From the history a tree that old has experienced to the wildlife that live within its branches. The anatomy of the tree is discussed, from the leaves all the way down to the roots and the purpose they serve. Ms. Brooks uses Mr. Pish’s childlike zest for life to make learning science fun for kids of all ages. Also included with this book is a worksheet with multiple choice questions to answer along with other thought provoking questions.
