Cassiel
Carmichael is a 27-year-old woman who recently lost her husband and toddler
child in an auto accident. After sighting a UFO in Jones’s paddock, Cass has
found a purpose to live, but the people in her rural South Australian community
call her Crazy Cassie. So Cass went on the Internet in search of other
like-minded individuals. That’s how she uncovered the UFO Society and
eventually met Rhys and Graham.
Rhys and
Graham were authors of several serious UFO books and were working on their next
one. Interested in Cass and her believable story, the trio sat out under the
stars for several nights until a UFO appeared changing their lives forever.

Shepherd’s science fiction novel, Lifeboat, is a roller coaster ride that sets
up a believable abduction in which Cass thinks her abductors are altruistic
interlopers trying to save humanity from extinction.
The
doe-eyed grey aliens appear kind when they relocate the survivors on an Earth
500 years into the future. It is now up to Cass and two hundred other survivors
to rebuild the human race.
Shepherd’s
book is a nail-biting mystery thriller as one inexplicable event affects
another until the earth-shattering climax that will keep you thinking weeks
after the novel is set aside. Make sure you read the questions at the end of
the book for discussion with friends and book club buddies.
I found a
few of the early flashback scenes confusing, but in time figured out what the
author was trying to do.
Format/Typo Issues:
I thought
there were a few typos a good editor should have caught.
