2015 BigAl's Books and Pals Readers' Choice Awards

In the twelve months ending February 28th, 2015, BigAl and the Pals will have received over 3,000 review requests and published more than 300 new book reviews. From those, we chose the books we felt stood out from the pack as exceptional examples of Indie (self-published and small press) writing and divided them into fourteen categories.

For the next two weeks (until midnight Mountain time on March 28th) you'll have the chance to vote on your favorite books to pick a winner in each of the fourteen categories. We're also having a giveaway with the following prizes:

  • Grand Prize: $75 Amazon Gift Card (Your choice of Amazon.com or Amazon UK)
  • First Prize: Your choice of any 15 of the nominated books gifted to you in Kindle format.
  • Second Prize: A complete collection of all the books written by those of BigAl’s Pals who are authors, plus two books where BigAl was a contributing author, each gifted to you in Kindle format. (Full list below.)
  • Third Prize: Your choice of any 4 of the nominated books gifted to you in Kindle format.
  • Fourth Prize: Your choice of any 3 of the books on the “Pal’s Books” list below.

For each category you vote in you'll receive one entry in the giveaway raffle. You'll also note there are many other ways to enter the giveaway including visiting the social media sites of Books and Pals and some of the Pals. (Feel free to like the page while you’re there.)

Since many of these books may be unfamiliar, you can find our review of any of them using the search box at the top right. For the next several days our posts will be focused on these awards, with at least one post each day spotlighting the nominees in the various categories with an occasional new review thrown in.

Might we suggest that if you aren't familiar with the nominated books, now would be a great time to sample those in your favorite categories using Amazon's "Look Inside" feature, and please encourage all your book loving friends to drop by and participate.

Award winners will be announced on a special post on 4/1/2015.

Rafflecopter Hints

If you aren't familiar with the Rafflecopter application/form, here are a few quick hints.

First, If you see a sign-in page below, you'll have to either sign-on using your Facebook login or by giving a name and email address by clicking the appropriate button. No, we won't use your email address or any information gathered to start spamming you. The Rafflecopter application picks winners for the giveaway randomly and provides us with the email address for the winners. Otherwise we'd have no way to reach the winners to award the prizes. It also helps to limit a person voting more than once. (If it is discovered someone voted multiple times their votes and giveaway entries will be invalidated.)

Second, you'll see fourteen boxes with down arrows and the verbiage "Your vote in the ________ category". Click the down arrow, make your choice, then click enter.

Third, as I mentioned above, there are other ways you can get additional entries to the giveaway, which are each of the boxes with down arrows below the voting boxes. Click the down arrow on each of these and it instructs you on what to do for each.

I’ve heard that Rafflecoptor sometimes doesn’t play nice with older versions of Internet Explorer. If you use IE and experience issues getting it to work, using a different browser (possibly at work or on your smartphone) might be the answer. (Upgrading your browser would be an even better idea as these old versions of IE have issues with many websites.)

Thrilled and humbled that MOLLY HARPER is included in your ChikLit/Women's Fiction nomination list, Big Al. Your reviews are always helpful to readers and authors, and I am sure I speak for both groups in saying thank you for all you do for us!

I was asked to check into this page to vote for a few authors that I enjoyed recently, and I was so thrilled to find not only Sibel Hodge but also Emelle Gamble on the list for Molly Harper. I feel that I can only vote at this time for those books that I have read, but will try to get in another if possible. I am wishing Sybil and Emelle the best of luck in this contest.

If I understand your question, Linda, then we've run posts for Mystery and Science fiction as well as the children's books thus far. (You can find them by clicking home at the top and scrolling down, or looking for the blog archive area on the rightwhere you'll see links to each of those.) The rest of this week and the first half of next we'll being running spotlight posts for the remaining categories.
